My Story

Harini’s father thought that having a son would bring greatness. Then his wife had a baby-- and it was a girl. Her name was Harini. Harini was neglected by her mother and was not valued by her father. A few years later, her mother had another baby girl, who was also neglected. Both girls grew up being verbally abused by their father. Now a tenth grader, Harini is in danger of bride trafficking. That is, her father hopes to marry her off in return for money. Harini’s grandmother knew this was wrong, and approached one of IGP’s social workers for help. All Harini wants to do is go to school and study to achieve her dream of becoming an engineer. With your help, that can happen. With your sponsorship, Harini will be saved from bride trafficking. She will be able to return to school. She will be taught that-- as a girl-- she is loved, valuable, and important.
