Sravya’s father thought that having a son would bring greatness. Then his wife had a baby-- and it was a girl. Then she had another baby, and it was a girl too. This girl’s name was Sravya. Sravya and her sister were neglected by their mother and verbally abused by their father. They grew up in a home where their father physically abused their mother, as well. Eventually, Sravya’s poor living conditions grew even worse-- her father decided she needed to go to work. He wanted her to do manual labor-- even though she was only seven years old. Her grandmother decided enough was enough and sent for one of IGP’s social workers to help. The social worker, along with some local leaders, began to speak to Sravya’s father to explain to him why his actions were wrong. With your support, Sravya will continue to get the help that she needs. She will not be forced into illegal child labor. She will be kept in school. She will be taught her true value. She will know that she is loved.
