We are thankful for the work our partners and social workers are doing on the field in India. Viswakavi's mother, Jeyarani, was threatened and pressured by her husband and his parents into receiving an illegal ultrasound to find out the gender of her second child. She was told she was having a boy otherwise she would have had an illegal abortion.
After Jeyarani's difficult delivery, she found out that her husband, Prabhu had run away as soon as he heard the baby was a girl. He did not even want to meet his newborn daughter. Jeyarani's mother desperately sought help from our social workers. She did not know how they were going to be able to feed and take care of Viswakavi.
Our social workers eventually met with Prabhu and his parents to assure them they were going to help provide food and medical attention to Viswakavi. They also educated them on the worth of their baby girl and after time, Prabhu has come to love and care for his daughter. Your sponsorship will allow Viswakavi to continue receiving milk supplements, vitamins, and food rations. Our social workers will continue to counsel Viswakavi's family and ensure she is growing and developing well.
