My Story

Madhu’s life has been full of hardship and neglect. Her father is ill and bedridden, so he is unable to provide for the family and is emotionally distant. Her mother fled the village several times with Madhu and her younger sister because she was continually harassed by her brother-in-law for sexual favors. They eventually returned, but life continued to be hard.

Madhu’s mother has seasonal work and struggles to provide for the needs of her family and her husband's medical bills. Madhu and her sister depend on their one meal at school for food. Madhu is constantly hungry and stressed by her mother’s struggle to support the family without their father’s support. 

If our social workers hadn’t been able to rescue the girls, they would still be hungry and could have been forced into child labor or early marriage. This is why your sponsorship matters. Not only are you providing them with food and essentials to give them a full life, but you are making them feel loved, nurtured, and seen.
