My Story

Little Nivetha’s life has been full of sorrow and neglect. During her mother’s pregnancy with Nivetha, the husband warned and threatened to abort the baby if it were a girl. The husband sent his pregnant wife and two daughters away to her family's home, where she would eventually give birth to Nivetha. Months after Nivetha’s birth the father still hadn’t visited. Upon seeing Nivetha for the first time, he and his family chased and threatened to kill her.

Nivetha’s mother came down with a serious case of chickenpox, but the husband didn’t take his wife’s sickness seriously. Nivetha’s mother died only two days after being hospitalized. Nivetha’s father went missing after her mother’s death, and hasn’t been in contact with Nivetha or her two older sisters, Priyadharshini and Mahalakshmi, since. Thankfully, the girls’ grandmother had heard about our social workers through a women’s group in the village and knew she could trust them for help.

The girls miss their mother and cry for her frequently. Their loving grandparents are struggling to take over the missing role of girls’ father and provide the essentials they need. With your sponsorship, they will continue to receive the medical attention and nutritional supplements they need.

This is why your sponsorship matters. Not only are you providing them with food and essentials to help care for them, but you are making them feel loved, nurtured, and seen.
