My Story

Bhargavi Segu was born into a family that wanted only sons. Because she is a girl, Bhargavi disappointed her father from birth, even before she was able to understand the physical world around her. In line with cultural beliefs, Bhargavi’s father does not believe there is a reason to educate a young girl. 

Bhargavi was pulled out of school and was forced to work on farms in order to provide income for her family. She provided for her brother’s education while being denied the schooling she desired and deserved. Bhargavi’s parents’ main priority was to find a husband for her to be married to as soon as possible.

Your sponsorship allows Bhargavi to go to school and live in a safe home where she is protected from neglect, child labor, and illegal child marriage. She is safe, has access to nutritious food and education, and most importantly, she is being told truth: she is loved, she is valuable, she is worthy!
