My Story

Sri Lakshmi was born into a family that wanted only sons. As a girl, Sri Lakshmi was a disappointment to her father from birth. In line with cultural beliefs in the area, Sri Lakshmi’s father did not believe there was a reason to educate a young girl. 

Her father eventually pulled Sri Lakshmi out of school and she spent her days cleaning and learning to cook. Her parents ensured that they had the money for their son’s education while denying school to their daughter. Sri Lakshmi’s parents believed they have to find her a husband as soon as possible to rid themselves of herl
