Mahadheera (a Telugu fantasy action film).
Tabu Sulthana’s parents only wanted sons who could carry on their family name. However, they had many children—both boys and girls. Their sons were cared for very well, with toys, new clothes, and nutritious food. But their daughters were not given the same care at all. Tabu Sulthana was not enrolled in school by her parents because they believed it was useless to educate a girl. Instead, she and her sisters were taken to the fields to work and earn money for their parents. Their parents had strict plans to marry off their daughters as child brides so they would no longer be burdens on the family.
One of our social workers saw Tabu Sulthana working in a field and inquired about her wellbeing. After hearing about her situation, our social workers were able to confront her parents for their negligence and intervene on her behalf.
Your sponsorship ensures Tabu Sulthana is enrolled in school and receiving a good education instead of being a child laborer or becoming a child bride. It also provides her with ongoing support and counseling from our social workers who are teaching her the value of being a girl!
