My Story

Bindusri Mahalakshmi’s grandparents greatly discriminated against her and her sister for being girls. Although her parents loved her and her sister very much, the grandparents pressured them to marry off their daughters as child brides. After Bindusri’s father died from health issues, his parents pressured Bindusri’s mother even more to marry off her daughters. They believed there was no significance in educating the two girls. 

Bindusri’s mother, without the support of her husband, was desperate for help to fight against the demands of her husband’s parents and reached out to our social workers. Our social workers were able to confront Bindusri’s grandparents for their negligence and ultimately intervene on her behalf. Your sponsorship ensures Bindusri is enrolled in a good school and receiving an education rather than becoming a child bride. It also provides her with ongoing support and counseling from our social workers who will teach her the value and worth of being a girl.
