In 2021, Rithika lost her father in a tractor accident. Her mother, then the sole provider for the household, showed her stress through emotional and physical abuse and told Rithika that she was bad luck for her family and that it was her fault that her father died.
Rithika’s mother didn’t have the means to support Rithika’s nutrition and education. Instead of attending school, Rithika stayed home and did chores around the house, and sometimes went to work on farms with her mother.
