Ever since Amrutha was born, her father favored her older brother and has taken his frustration about having two girls out on his wife and daughters. Amrutha eventually lost her older sister to health complications due to malnutrition.
Her father’s frustration manifested in harsh verbal and physical abuse of Amrutha and her mother. He was not interested in caring for Amrutha and resented Amrutha’s mother for birthing girls. Amrutha’s mother wasn’t healthy enough to care for her—leaving her father as her only means of support.
