My Story

Thanusha’s parents severely neglected her for being a girl. Although her brother was lovingly cared for—often being gifted new clothes and toys, Thanusha was consistently scolded and lacked basic care from her parents. She was denied an education by her parents so she could work in the field as a young girl to provide money for her brother's resources and education.

Her parents also made plans to have Thanusha married off by the age of 12 or 13 after she made enough money for them by working in the field. One of the other ladies working in the field saw Thanusha and inquired about her wellbeing. She reached out to our social workers who were able to intervene on Thanusha’s behalf and confront her parents for their negligence.

Your sponsorship ensures Thanusha is enrolled in school and receiving an education rather than being a child laborer or becoming a child bride. It also provides her with ongoing support and counseling from our social workers who are teaching her the value of being a girl!
