My Story

Shaini’s father is very domineering and makes all of the family’s decisions himself. He only wanted sons in his family and eagerly prayed for his wife to give him a son. To his disappointment, his wife gave birth to a daughter: Shaini. After Shaini was born, her mother began to have health complications which eventually kept her from being able to have more children. Her father was deeply angered by the news of his wife’s health. He began to falsely believe that Shaini, being a girl, caused this misfortune for their family.

Shaini was severely neglected for being a girl. Her mother, despite the neglect and abuse from her husband, loved Shaini, and although Shaini’s father tried to force her to abandon Shaini, she stood up to him and fought for her daughter. But eventually, Shaini’s mother realized she could not provide for her daughter sufficiently without the support of her husband. Because of this, she found our social workers and began to explain her situation.

When our social workers found out about Shaini and her mother, they took immediate action. They were able to confront Shaini’s father for his negligence and intervene on her behalf. Shaini is now safe. Your sponsorship ensures Shaini is enrolled in school and receiving a good education rather than being abandoned. It also provides her with ongoing support and counseling from our social workers who are teaching her the value of being a girl!
