My Story

Venkata Lakshmi was born to poor parents who work on farms for low daily wages. After she was born, Venkata Lakshmi’s father severely neglected her because she is a girl. He believed she was a financial burden and refused to properly care for her. Although her mother desired to care for her, she was unable to sufficiently without the support of her husband. 

Our social workers learned about Venkata Lakshmi through one of her relatives who was concerned for her wellbeing. Our partners were able to confront her father about his negligence and, ultimately, intervene on behalf of Venkata Lakshmi. Your sponsorship ensures Venkata Lakshmi is receiving proper care and nutrition for her development, as well as a safe environment to grow. More than that, she will learn she is loved and valued as a girl.
