Esther’s father severely neglected Esther for being a girl, and mistreated his wife for giving birth to a daughter. A few years after her birth, Esther’s father died from sickness and his relatives blamed Esther for his death. They falsely believed she had cursed their family because she was born a girl. They tried to force Esther to become a child laborer to earn money for the family—even as a young and vulnerable child.
A concerned neighbor introduced Esther’s mother to our social workers and she was able to share about her daughter’s situation. Our social workers were able to intervene on her behalf and rescue her. Your sponsorship ensures Esther is enrolled in school and receiving an education rather than becoming a child laborer! It also provides her with nutritious food and ongoing counseling support from our social workers who are teaching her the value of being a girl!
