My Story

Jishitha’s father severely neglected her for being a girl. Never being treated as an equal to her brother, Jishitha’s father often told her she was only  a burden to their family and that life would be so much better if she was just a boy. Jishitha often went without sufficient food and was not allowed to talk or play freely in her house like her brother. IGP’s social workers learned about Jishitha's situation and were able to confront her father for his negligence and intervene on her behalf. Your sponsorship ensures Jishitha is enrolled in school and receiving a good education rather than becoming a child laborer or a child bride. It also provides her with nutritious food and ongoing counseling support from IGP’s social workers who are teaching her the value of being a girl.
