My Story

Sai Jahnavi’s parents believed, like many people in their region, that girls are a curse from God and boys are a blessing from God. Because of this, Sai Jahnavi’s older brother was lavished with affection, food, and an education while Sai Jahnavi was blamed for any misfortune or hardship that came upon their family. Always being compared to her brother, Sai Jahnavi was often ignored by her father and was neglected simply because of her gender. IGP’s social workers learned about Sai Jahnavi’s situation and were able to visit her home to inquire about her wellbeing. IGP’s social workers were able to confront Sai Jahnavi’s parents for her negligence and intervene on her behalf.
