My Story

Every day, Pujitha was woken early to cook, clean, and wash clothing before she was allowed to attend school. After school, Pujitha had to complete more chores for her parents and elder brother. This forced her to do her homework late into the night, causing the strong student to be exhausted and unable to focus at school. Sometimes, her parents took their daughter into the fields to earn extra income, while her older brother focused on his education. Because she attended a publicly funded school, the government did not require that she stay in school. 

A family member noticed the abusive conditions that Pujitha lived in and reached out to one of our social workers. Pujutha’s parents were not interested in changing their behavior until our social worker threatened to contact police. 

With your sponsorship, Pujitha will be rescued from an abusive environment, with the chance to live life as a normal 11-year-old kid. She will have access to quality education at a private school. She will receive constant care, told about her inherent worth and value as a girl.
