Nandana was born into a home where a girl child's life was considered a burden. Her parents, Naresh and Kalyani, moved to a new village soon after marriage in search of work. Naresh was highly dominating and held a firm belief that only a boy heir could bring pride to the family.
When Kalyani became pregnant for the first time, the family hoped for a son. But when she gave birth to a baby girl, Nandana, Naresh was furious and refused to accept her. No matter how much Kalyani pleaded, he insisted that girls were worthless and demanded that the child be sent away. Heartbroken, Kalyani gave Nandana to her sister, visiting her whenever she could.
Two years later, Kalyani became pregnant again and once more delivered a baby girl. Naresh rejected the child immediately, but this time the mother refused to give her away. She chose to keep her daughter despite the emotional pressure and threats she faced from her husband.
Around the same time, issues arose in her sister’s family, and little Nandana was sent back to her parents home returning to an environment where she was never wanted by her father and constantly at risk of abandonment and neglect.
Without timely protection, Nandana would have remained in severe emotional danger, exposed to rejection, discrimination, and the possibility of being discarded simply because she was born a girl.
If you choose to sponsor Nandana, you will play a life-changing role in her journey.
