Nafsiya Suhana, an 8-year-old girl, grappled with the harsh reality of discrimination and abuse within her family due to traditional beliefs that favored male children. As the only child of daily wage parents working on an agricultural farm, her existence was tainted by the unfair preference for a son. The family, unable to have more children, unjustly blamed Nafsiya for this misfortune.
The intervention of IGP social workers became crucial when they witnessed Nafsiya working at home instead of attending school. Confronting the parents, the social workers were met with resistance and an explanation that the child's mother's illness necessitated Nafsiya's involvement in household chores.
Overcoming their initial reluctance, the parents agreed to send Nafsiya to school, marking a positive turning point in her life. However, it became evident that continuous visits and guidance from IGP social workers were essential to help the parents understand the significance of education and cultivate a loving and respectful relationship with their daughter.
If you choose to sponsor Nafsiya, you will play a part in providing her with the opportunity to create a better life for herself. Under IGP’s care, she will receive a strong education, the ability to have a better childhood, and consistent care for her needs. With your help, Nafsiya will begin to know that she is loved and valued.
