My Story

Ayesha, is the eldest of three siblings in a family that traditionally valued boys over girls. Her parents, disappointed with her gender, prioritized her younger brothers, neglecting Ayesha's education and assigning her household duties. Ayesha's father believed it was her duty as a girl to care for the family and work, justifying it as repayment for her upkeep costs. Despite her intelligence and desire for education, Ayesha was often kept out of school to manage household responsibilities and care for her brothers.

IGP Social workers intervened after a teacher raised concerns about Ayesha's situation, but her father initially resisted their involvement, viewing girls as a burden. After being informed of potential legal consequences, he reluctantly agreed to let Ayesha attend school. However, ongoing counseling and monitoring were deemed necessary to ensure her education and well-being, as she remained at risk of early marriage and continued discrimination. The involvement of local volunteers was crucial in encouraging the father to treat his daughter with respect and support her education.

If you choose to sponsor Ayesha, you will play a part in providing her with the opportunity to create a better life for herself. Under IGP’s care, she will receive a strong education, the ability to have a better childhood, and consistent care for her needs. With your help Ayesha will begin to know that she is loved and valued.
