My Story

Ananya was just two months old and the only child to her parents. The parents had hoped for a boy and were disappointed upon learning the child's gender. This disappointment turned into anger, particularly from the child's father and paternal grandparents, who refused to visit the baby and the mother in the hospital. Following discharge, Ananya and her mother stayed with the maternal grandparents, but they too were disheartened. The mother, overwhelmed and depressed after being driven out of her husband's house, struggled to care for Ananya, especially as her own parents were elderly and had to work as laborers to provide for them. Ananya's father never visited or provided support. As a result, Ananya suffered neglect and discrimination due to her gender, lacking the parental love and proper nutrition crucial for her development. Support for Ananya could significantly improve her chances of a healthy, fulfilling life.
