My Story

Shafiya’s mother married young, with no education or resources of her own. Her marriage turned abusive when she delivered a baby girl—her husband had wanted a son. Shafiya’s father began to abuse her, too. He was angry that family resources had to go toward taking care of a girl.

A family member saw that Shafiya’s life was in danger and reached out to an IGP social worker. When social workers and community members confronted the father with his actions, he realized there would be legal consequences if he continued his behavior. He allowed his daughter to enter IGP’s program. 

If you choose to sponsor Shafiya, you will play a part in providing her with the opportunity to create a better life for herself. Under IGP’s care, Shafiya will receive a strong education, the ability to have a better childhood, and consistent care for her needs. With your help, she will begin to know that she is loved and valued.
