My Story

 Harika grew up facing hostility from her family due to their preference for a male heir, particularly from her father. At 18, he forced her into marriage, ignoring her desire to study. Harika hoped for love from her husband, but he shared her family's bias, wanting a son. When she gave birth to a daughter, Vedanshi, her husband severely beat her, withheld food, and pressured her to have a boy. When a palm reader predicted her second child was another girl, he violently assaulted her in an attempt to cause a miscarriage.

Harika gave birth to a second daughter, but her husband’s abuse worsened. One night, he assaulted Vedanshi, and Harika fought back, escaping with her daughters. She sought refuge at her parents' house, but they initially turned her away. A journalist got involved, helping her family file a police complaint. Her husband continued to threaten her, but with the help of our social worker, we intervened to support Harika and educate her family on the value of daughters.
