Indrasena comes from a family of five children. She has four siblings and was raised by her mother after her father passed away due to jaundice. Following his death, her mother began working as a server in a hotel to support the family.
Indrasena is the third girl among the five children. Her parents had strongly hoped for a son, believing a boy would bring them support in the future and good fortune. After the birth of three daughters, her mother became increasingly disappointed. Even when two more pregnancies resulted in girls, her mother’s mindset did not change. It was only in the fifth pregnancy that a boy was born, and from that moment, the mother’s attention and care became centered on her sons.
As the youngest girl, Indrasena faced the harshest neglect. Her mother considered her a burden and often expressed regret, saying, “Why did I have three daughters, especially when your father is no more? Why couldn’t I have had sons earlier?” These words deeply hurt Indrasena, who longed for love and acceptance.
From a very young age, she was expected to take on all household chores to “support” the family. She worked hard, hoping her efforts would earn her mother’s affection, but she received only disappointment in return. The emotional pain of being unwanted weighed heavily on her.
When IGP’s social workers came to know about Indrasena’s situation, they intervened and ensured her safety. She was enrolled in the shelter home, where she could receive the care, love, support, and quality education she had been missing.
Her mother rarely visits her, and on those days when Indrasena waits in hope and her mother does not come, she feels a deep emptiness. Still, she is slowly healing in the nurturing environment of the home.
Had she not been protected in time, Indrasena would have continued to face discrimination, emotional neglect, and the constant burden of feeling unloved. Today, she is safe, cared for, and given the opportunity to build a brighter future.
If you choose to sponsor Indrasena, you will play a part in providing her with the opportunity to create a better life for herself. Under IGP’s care, she will receive a strong education, the ability to have a better childhood, and consistent care for her needs. With your help, she will begin to know that she is loved and valued.
