My Story

Vaishnavi’s parents severely neglected her for being a girl. Although they treated her brother with love and care, even sending him to a private school, they sent Vaishnavi to a government-regulated school with free food so they wouldn’t have to feed her. Vaishnavi’s parents also forced her to do all of the household chores and eventually pulled her out of school to work in the field to earn extra money to support her brother.

While she was working in the field, one of our social workers spotted Vaishnavi and inquired about her wellbeing. After learning about her situation, our social workers were able to confront her parents for her negligence and, ultimately, intervene on her behalf.

Your sponsorship ensures Vaishnavi is enrolled in a good school and receiving an education rather than becoming a child laborer or a child bride. It also provides her with ongoing support and counseling from our social workers who are teaching her the value of being a girl!
