My Story

Akshaya’s father was ashamed of her when she was born. He believed she was nothing but a burden on their family as a girl. After the birth of her younger brother, the neglect of Akshaya grew worse as her parents put all of their resources into caring for him and excluding her. After learning about Akshaya, IGP's social workers were able to confront her father for his negligence and intervene on her behalf. Your sponsorship ensures Akshaya is enrolled in school and receiving a good education. It also provides her with nutritious food for her overall growth and development as well as ongoing counseling support from IGP’s social workers who are teaching her the value of being a girl.
