My Story

Harshita’s father is very dominating and hates women’s development. After marriage, he treated his wife like a slave. Harshita’s mother made a promise to herself that if she had a girl baby, she would not let her suffer as she had. Harshita’s mother gave birth to Harshita and another daughter. Harshita’s father never loved his daughters, never bought them new things, and never gave any importance to them.

Later, Harshita’s mother gave birth to a son. Her father always bought him new toys but never allowed his daughters to even touch them. He then forced his daughters to stop going to school and made arrangements to send them as bonded laborers. Harshita’s mother refused to allow this; she wanted to save her daughters, so she approached our social worker. Eventually, our team convinced Harshita’s father to stop making them work and send them back to school.

Your support will allow Harshita to fulfill her mother’s desire for her – she will become a strong, self-sufficient woman. She will be shown love and care. She will be educated and protected. Most importantly, she will be taught that she is incredibly valuable and has immense worth.
