My Story

When Ishwarya was born, her parents were disappointed that they did not have another son. Ishwarya’s older brother was cherished by her parents, went to school regularly, and didn’t have to work. Conversely, Ishwarya wasn’t allowed to go to school and was forced to do hard manual labor to earn income for her family. 

She was experiencing neglect at home and was at risk of illegal child marriage—but all Ishwarya wanted was to go to school and learn to support herself. However, her parents believed the only thing that girls needed to learn was how to write their names. 

Your sponsorship allows Ishwarya to go to school and live in a safe home where she is protected from neglect, child labor, and illegal child marriage. She is safe, has access to nutritious food and education, and most importantly, she is being told truth: she is loved, she is valuable, she is worthy.
