My Story

Nandini’s father only wanted sons because he falsely believed that daughters were burdens. When his wife became pregnant with their first child, he eagerly expected to have a son. To his disappointment, his wife gave birth to a daughter: Nandini. She was severely neglected by her father for being a girl—he refused to give her attention and planned to have her married off as soon as she turned 15. He saw no need to educate her because she is a girl.

Nandini’s mother, desperate to help her daughter, reached out to our social workers who were able to confront her husband for his negligence and intervene on Nandini’s behalf. Your sponsorship ensures Nandini is enrolled in school and receiving a good education. It also ensures she is receiving ongoing counseling and support from our social workers who are teaching her the value and worth of being a girl!
