Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (a Telugu drama-action film).
Vaishnavi’s parents only desired to have sons. Like most people in their community, they were convinced that boys had more worth than girls. When Vaishnavi was born, they both were very disappointed and angry with her birth. They both severely neglected her for being a girl—usually ignoring that she was even present.
Soon after her birth, her brother was born. Vaishnavi’s parents were overjoyed by the birth of their son and they lavished him with many gifts in celebration. Unfortunately, their neglect of Vaishnavi only increased with the birth of their son. Vaishnavi was sent to work in the field to earn more income for her family, even as a young girl, and was refused the opportunity to consistently go to school. One of our social workers was notified about Vaishnavi's situation after speaking with a member of her village. After learning about Vaishnavi, our social workers were able to confront her parents for their negligence and, ultimately, intervene on her behalf.
Your sponsorship ensures Vaishnavi is enrolled in school instead of becoming a child laborer. It also provides Vaishnavi with ongoing support and counseling from our social workers who are teaching her the value of being a girl!
