My Story

Hima Bindhu’s parents severely neglected her for being a girl. They falsely believed their son had more value than Hima Bindhu and used all of their resources to support him. While her brother was enrolled in school, Hima Bindhu was made to work in the field to earn income to alleviate her parents of the burden and to earn extra money for her brother’s education instead of her own. Our social workers met Hima Bindhu while she was working on a farm and inquired about her wellbeing. After learning about her situation, our social workers were able to confront her parents for their negligence and intervene on Hima Bindhu’s behalf.

Your sponsorship ensures Hima Bindhu is enrolled in school and receiving a good education rather than being a child laborer. It also provides her with ongoing support and counseling from our social workers who are teaching her the value of being a girl!
