My Story

Nagamani, a woman with a disability, faced relentless abuse from her husband, Chandra, who had a deep-seated preference for male heirs. Though disappointed by the birth of their first daughter, he softened after their first son was born. However, when Nagamani gave birth to a second daughter, Jaanu, Chandra became furious, pressuring Nagamani to abandon her.

Nagamani’s mother, unwilling to let this happen, sought help from a social worker. Together with the social worker, they gathered community support and approached the village elders. With persistent efforts, they convinced Chandra to value Jaanu as his daughter, ultimately saving her from abandonment.
